Got Swagger? Here are some Swaggerlicious Cards.

Since 2007, I’ve enjoyed attending Coach Tom Ferry‘s annual August Success Summit in California.  Hearing new ideas for how I can improve my real estate business and life; reconnecting with friends in the business; setting goals; and getting the inspiration I need to keep me on track are just a few of the reasons I attend.  Over the last year or so, I’ve met a lot of great new friends through social networking and while I was in Anaheim, CA for the Summit I had the pleasure of seeing many of my Twitter friends for the very first time.

My mom taught me to always write “thank you” cards, which I have done for years.  I may have mentioned before that I mail an average of 800 cards each year and in the last two and a half years, nearly all have been hand-made.  Instead of sending store-bought cards, I made a few special cards for some of the friends I saw at the Success Summit.  I wanted to make more, but I was only home for about a week between my SoCal trip and my 16 day road-trip.

Tom Ferry’s theme this year was all about getting your swagger back.  Swagger was defined as how you are presenting yourself to the world or how they are experiencing you.  In this difficult real estate market, many of us in real estate have felt beaten down and now it was time for us to dust off the dirt, hold our heads up high and get our game face on.  Walk with confidence, put our shoulders back, and focus on our clients and the things we’re good at doing!  Tom used silly versions of the word “swagger” to make us laugh: swaggified, swaggerlicious, swaggification, etc.

I took the word “swaggerlicious” and the colors from our Success Summit notebook and made some cards.  So without further ado, here are the cards!

The little surfboard-looking “swaggerlicious” cut-out is mounted to the card with a wire coil I made.  It made the word wiggle.

Then on Wednesday 11/3/10, Tom Ferry flew up to Seattle to address our company (John L. Scott KMS Kent North & the Renton J.L.S. office) and I made him a special “swagger” card.

I was happy that he appreciated the card.  🙂  He gave me a hug and sent me a tweet via Twitter just before hitting the stage: “u r the best!!! Thank you!”  When he signed my copy of his book, he gave me another hug and thanked me again for the card.  My husband took a picture of us and after uploading it to Facebook, Tom commented: “Awesome to see you!!!!  LOVE the card!”

I tell ya, it feels so good when people appreciate my cards!  When my other friends received my “swagger” cards, many of them sent me pictures of their card or pictures of them with the card.  It just makes my day and inspires me to make more cards for friends when people appreciate them.  🙂
