A Special Friendship Card

Last month I had the privilege of meeting my friend and fellow blogger Jayma Malme in person for the first time when I was visiting Southern California.  Jayma and I have a common interest: paper-crafting (and so much more)!  We met through Twitter (her name is @jaymalew) and really clicked online as friends, so when I booked my SoCal flight, I let her know.  She moved from San Diego to Fresno recently, and I was so happy when she decided to visit family in San Diego the weekend I’d be in town – perfect!

I was with friends, traveling from Costa Mesa to La Jolla and San Diego and we were on a time crunch.  Jayma and I met outside an In & Out restaurant  for maybe 15 or 20 minutes and had a chance for a quick photo before I got back on the road again.  I’m just so thankful we got to meet face to face!

After meeting a fellow paper-crafter, how could I NOT make her a custom card?  I sketched out this card – which I almost never do – and watched it come to life.  Don’t laugh, but I had to watch my how-to-cut-felt-in-the-Cuttlebug video in order to remember how to cut the felt flowers.  I’m so glad I made that video so that it can help others like it has helped me.  I cut the stem and leaves freehand with scissors, used a rub-on from CTMH, some fun brads from MakingMemories, paper from DCWV, and pleated some ribbon from CTMH.

Thanks for reading my blog post! 🙂

Aww, thank you! I’m happy the card got to you in one piece. Your picture looked close enough to mine – whew! I love that you also appreciated the confetti. It didn’t match the card, but you understand the fleur-de-lis connection. 🙂 I now have two reasons to visit Fresno: you and Angela B.! I don’t know when we’ll meet up again, but I will plan on it being a longer visit fo’ sho’!

What a small world! I follow Jayma’s blog, too – but she has no idea who I am. 😉 How cool that you got to meet a cyber friend. 🙂 Beautiful card, Stephanie!

That IS a small world! How fun that you follow Jayma’s blog! 🙂 She is a real person – very personable, like her blog, and very sweet and fun. Meeting “cyber friends” is one of my favorite things to do. I’m glad you liked my card ~ thank you!

Deborah – I look forward to meeting YOU someday! 🙂 Thank you, re: the card. I learned that fun pleating technique at a Stamp Camp last month and had fun trying it on my own. I’ll be sharing the pleated ribbon Christmas card after Thanksgiving. I’m trying to spare people from seeing holiday cards on my blog too early.
