Mojo Monday Card Challenge 172

*** We interrupt this Depeche Mode card blog streak to bring you my Monday Mojo 172 Card Challenge Card! ***

Since Jayma got me hooked on this weekly card challenge, it has become a lot of fun and now I’ve roped two more friends into doing these challenges with me.  Last night I was at Rebecca‘s house and we worked on the challenge card together and had a great time.  It felt good to create with a friend and work on something creative.

Here is the sketch I was working from:

Here is the card I made – and this time, the card challenge will have a few prizes, so that’s exciting that I have a small possibility of winning something!

I used DCWV “The Natural” cardstock stack and DCWV “The Linen Closet” premium matstack paper along with some Spellbinders scallop circle die and a corduroy button from Stampin’ Up!  I also used some pretty pearls and a stamped sentiment, both from CTMH.  Thanks for reading my blog!

Mojo Monday Card Challenge 171

I missed last week’s “Mojo Monday” Card Challenge, but tonight I was determined to make a card for this week’s challenge.  I love how these challenges get my creative juices flowing and cause me to stretch my card designs.  Here is this week’s sketch – I could choose to use squares or circles and I always pick squares when I have a choice like this:

Annnnnd, here is the card I designed using DCWV “The Natural” cardstock stack, DCWV “The Linen Closet” premium matstack, K & Company “Poppy Seed Clearly Yours” epoxy stickers, a Colorbok “Woodhaven” stamp and a CTMH Chocolate colored marker.  It’s hot off the press – I just finished it!

Mojo Monday Card Challenge 169

Yesterday my friend Jayma Malme and I were talking via Twitter about card-making.  She saw my recent blog post about Christmas cards and was inspired to create a card based on two of the designs.  I loved the card she came up with and I suggested we trade card ideas and put our own twists on cards the other person has made.

She asked me if I had heard of Mojo Monday and their weekly card challenges.  I didn’t think I had, so I looked at the website and saw a card sketch.  It was Monday night so I thought, “Why not?” and immediately sat down and made a card to enter!  It was fun being challenged and given a suggestion for a fresh new card layout.

So, I’m taking a momentary break from sharing Christmas cards to show you the card I made for this card challenge. Here is the sketch my card was patterned after:

This is the card I designed.  I’m showing two pictures because I like the artsy angle of the first image, but figured I should include a picture of the card head-on, as well.  Be sure and check out the beautiful cards the other crafters have entered by visiting the Mojo Monday blog post associated with this challenge.

I used regular 8.5″ x 11″ red and black craft cardstock and the beautiful background paper is from Stampin’ Up! The stamp is something I found at Hobby Lobby in Fort Collins, CO and it’s made by Stampabilities.  The double layer of flowers are from Close to My Heart and the satin button-like brad is from K & Company.
