Rock On!

I have lots of friends who are awesome – and this card was for one of my music-loving friends I finally got to meet face-to-face. Here is the card I made him using Imaginisce “Live Loud” paper, matching ribbon, and Making Memories chipboard embellishments. I roughed up the edges with scissors for a “grunge” look and added shiny silver discs and a rockin’ belt buckle to the ribbon. After looking up his list of favorite bands on his Facebook profile, I wrote them onto the cassette tape paper at the bottom. 🙂

Have a Manly Birthday!

Today is my husband’s birthday!  I made him a special birthday card using colors similar to the logo I designed for his company, Jake of All Trades (and a perpetual thanks goes out to my cousin Mandy who turned my illustration into a digital logo). Jake is a general contractor and after stamping the images, I thought it would be funny to say, “Happy Birthday to a Real Tool!” but that wouldn’t be very nice.  I can’t put stereotypical tools, dogs, or fishing tackle boxes on every masculine card I make, but this theme seemed appropriate for the recipient.

I know I should have stamped the sentiment instead of written it, but I don’t have stamp letters that small.  Plus, it was 1:00 a.m. and who thinks clearly at that time of the morning?  OK, maybe you, but I don’t.

I punched out this paper heart {one might say I punched my heart out}, then stamped and embellished it.

Then I punched out a little folder and attached it inside the card with the folded heart inside.  I had stamped my favorite birthday cake stamp inside the card and then realized it has a flower on it.  That’s not OK for a masculine card with tools on it, so I covered it up with some Square Stax.
