Have a Very Snowy Christmas

Merry Christmas, everyone!   Here are some cards (mainly snowflake cards) I made one weekend with my Cuttlebug and Cricut.

I bought the beautiful Trim the Tree Cricut cartridge with plans to make some beautiful cards.  It tended to be rather frustrating because the intricate details turn out more successfully with a larger sized project.  I tried a few different shapes and when I cut them at a small 2.75″ or 3″ size in height, the blade tore up my paper.  This bell is so large that I can’t mail the card in the matching A-2 envelope.  I’ll have to use a larger size.  Unless I get into scrapbooking or decorating the house with paper shapes, I do not see myself using this cartridge.  What a shame.

I added Stickles glitter glue to highlight parts of the elegant bell.

I dry-embossed red DCWV paper with my Cuttlebug and sanded / distressed the raised image to expose the white paper core.  I used my new Sizzix Sizzlits Basic Grey snowflake die in my Cuttlebug to cut some cardstock snowflakes and enhanced them with a crystal rhinestone and Stickles glitter glue.

Here’s another interpretation of the card.

I finally used my delicate snowflake stickers!  I had been intimidated by them because they are difficult to peel away without stretching.  Now that I have some special adhesive paper designed to transfer these stickers, I can move them onto my project without tearing or warping the image.  You can’t see it, but I outlined the teal DCWV brand paper with Stickles glitter glue.

I finally used a snowflake eyelet I’d had for over a year.  I used another detailed snowflake sticker and embossed an image I stamped with a CTMH clear acrylic stamp.

I love this color combo!

I got bold and used a large silver foil snowflake sticker to make this simple card.  I added a crystal rhinestone to the center for some added “bling.”

Here’s a difficult-to-photograph navy blue card with a metallic foil sticker and some freehand wisps of Stickles glitter glue.  This card looks terrible in this photo!!

Eight More Christmas Cards!

It’s getting close to Christmas, and I’m not sure I have enough days to share my cards, so here are eight cards in one blog post.  Hold onto your hats, folks!

This was my 2009 holiday card, but the rest of the cards I am sharing were made this Fall.  I used DCWV paper and cardstock and cut the 12″ x 12″ sheets into three 4″ x 6″ cards.  This is a matchbook style card and the top panel tucks into the flap at the bottom.  I made the snowflake with my Cricut Expressions machine and added fine glitter to it with glue.

I used my Stampin’ Up! medallion stamp on shimmer paper and embossed the image in silver.  I used Stickles glitter glue and accidentally smudged it when I was stacking my cards, whoops!

I finally got to use these two stamps I bought a year or more ago at Impress Rubber Stamps!  I love how the swirls look like octopus legs.  🙂

Here’s another similar card.  I love rub-ons, so this beautiful “Merry Christmas” you see at the top is just a rub-on sentiment.

This is another snowflake card from when I was in the mood to emboss everything.  The decorative edge was created using my favorite edge punch from Stampin’ Up!

This card is mainly made with CTMH products: the paper, stamp, ribbon and embellishment.  I found the holly paper tape at Hobby Lobby and was pleased that it seemed to go well with the CTMH products.

This shimmery green card was made with three kinds of Christmas paper tape, a rub-on sentiment, stick-on pearls & a poinsettia from CTMH, and a Fiskars edge punch.

This card was designed by the lovely and talented Christine David from Create with Christine!  She showed a small class how to make this lovely card using Close to My Heart (CTMH) products.  I love the cool blue colors!

Five Silver and Red Snowflake Cards

The other day I shared my silver and blue snowflake cards and today I’d like to share my red and blue snowflake cards with you.  I don’t think much of an explanation is needed, but please post a comment if you have any questions about the materials used in any one of the cards.

Seven Silver and Blue Snowflake Cards

I think every crafter goes through phases, and I am no different.  When I first bought my heat embossing tool years ago, I embossed everything!  But then the thought of messing with powder and using the heat tool seemed exhausting, and I forgot about it.  Fortunately, during a crafty girls weekend with my good friend Rebecca, I became inspired to use the heat emboss technique and that set me off on a kick of embossing everything!

Here are some silver snowflake cards.  Maybe tomorrow I’ll share the red and silver ones but for now, please enjoy these silver and blue embossed cards.
